Desktop App Overview

OptimaChatApp is the desktop application for OptimaChat. It provides the same chat experience as the browser interface in a standalone app for Windows, Linux, and macOS (Apple Silicon).

What OptimaChatApp is

OptimaChatApp runs OptimaChat as a native desktop window rather than in a browser tab. The interface is identical to the web version — the same conversation history, model selection, tools, context window visualiser, and system prompt controls are all present.

The desktop app is useful when you prefer a dedicated application over a browser tab, or when your organisation's IT policy restricts the use of certain browsers.

How it connects

OptimaChatApp connects to your OptimaGPT Gateway over HTTPS, the same way a browser does. You provide the Gateway address when setting up the app, and sign in with your OptimaGPT username and password.

The app does not run any AI models locally — all inference is handled by the Gateway and connected Nodes, just as with the browser interface.

Keeping the app up to date

OptimaChatApp is versioned separately from the Gateway and Node. When a new version is released, download and install it from your administrator or the Parker Software distribution channel. The app will show a notification if it detects it is out of date compared to the Gateway it is connected to.
