Installing the Desktop App

OptimaChatApp is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS (Apple Silicon). This page covers installing the app and connecting it to your OptimaGPT Gateway.

Platform-specific installers

Packaged .msi (Windows) and .dmg (macOS) installers are coming soon. In the meantime, download the appropriate package from Parker Software and follow the steps for your platform below.

Windows

  1. Download the OptimaChatApp package for Windows.
  2. Extract the archive and run the installer or the application executable directly.
  3. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning for unsigned software — click More info, then Run anyway to proceed.

Linux

  1. Download the OptimaChatApp package for Linux.
  2. Extract the archive to a directory of your choice.
  3. Make the application executable: 
    chmod +x OptimaChatApp
  4. Run the application: 
    ./OptimaChatApp

To create a desktop shortcut or application menu entry, consult your desktop environment's documentation.

macOS (Apple Silicon)

  1. Download the OptimaChatApp package for macOS.
  2. Open the downloaded archive and drag OptimaChatApp to your Applications folder.
  3. On first launch, macOS may block the app because it is not from the Mac App Store. To allow it:
  4. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  5. Scroll to the Security section and click Open Anyway next to the OptimaChatApp entry.

First-time setup

When you open OptimaChatApp for the first time, you will be prompted to enter your Gateway address.

  1. Enter the address of your OptimaGPT Gateway, including the protocol — for example https://optima.yourcompany.com.
  2. Click Connect.
  3. Sign in with your OptimaGPT username and password.

The app saves the Gateway address and your session. On subsequent launches, you will be signed in automatically unless your session has expired.

If you do not know your OptimaGPT Gateway address, please contact your administrator.

Changing the Gateway address

If your Gateway address changes, you can update it in the app's Settings page. Sign out first if you are currently signed in, then enter the new address.

Signing out

To sign out, open Settings and click Sign Out. Your session is cleared from the app. The Gateway address is retained so you do not need to re-enter it on next launch.
