Installing OptimaGPT

OptimaGPT is installed using the OptimaGPT installer, available from the downloads page on our website. The installer handles the Gateway, Node, and desktop chat application and works across Windows, Linux, and macOS.

Linux headless servers: If you are installing on a Linux machine without a graphical interface, see Headless Installation instead.

Download the installer

Download the OptimaGPT installer from the downloads page at www.optimagpt.com. The correct installer for your platform and architecture will be indicated on the page.

Launch the installer

Run the downloaded installer file. The OptimaGPT installer window will open.

Click Install.

Select what to install

Choose which components to install on this machine.

Select Install Option screen showing three option buttons — Gateway and Node, Gateway, and Node — along with the Install from pre-release CDN checkbox and an Install button

Option What it installs
Gateway and Node Both components on this machine
Gateway The Gateway only — inference will run on a separate Node machine
Node A Node only — to be connected to a Gateway running elsewhere on the network

For a single-machine setup, choose Gateway and Node.

Install from pre-release CDN: Check this box only if directed to do so by Parker Software support. It installs the latest pre-release build rather than the current stable release.

Once you have made your selection, click Install.

Installation progress

The installer will locate the latest available version of each selected component, download it, and register it as a background service.

Installation progress screen showing a list of steps: Finding latest node, Install Node 2.0.4? (with Cancel and Yes buttons), Downloading node package, Unpacking, Register Service, Configuring installer, Finding latest gateway, Downloading gateway package, Unpacking, Register Service

When prompted to confirm a version — for example, Install Node 2.0.4? — click Yes to proceed.

The installer completes the following steps for each selected component:

  1. Find the latest available version
  2. Download the package
  3. Unpack the files
  4. Register the background service

Once all steps are complete, the selected components are installed and running as background services. They will start automatically when the machine boots.
